This tour starts on Friday at 8:00 AM at a restaurant in the western Chicago Suburbs. Over breakfast we will get acquainted with the other riders in our group. After breakfast, we will have a briefing on the day’s ride and on the safe riding practices we will be using during the weekend. We will specifically cover safe riding techniques and group riding hand signals. This should be completed before 9:00 AM so we can begin our weekend adventure at 9:00 AM.
Day 1 – We will head NW through the countryside of Illinois. We will stop for a pit stop about an hour after breakfast. After our pit stop we will discuss the group riding practices and make any adjustments in the group if necessary. We want to ensure that everyone understands the group riding techniques and are comfortable using them.
We will ride another two hours and then stop for lunch. Lunch will be at very nice restaurant, in a
small Wisconsin town. Our ride north through Wisconsin will take us on some very nice rural roads. Most of these roads are county roads and do not have numbers but are identified with letters!
After a great day of riding, we will arrive at our hotel near the shores of Lake Michigan. We will stay two nights in the Manitowoc Area. After we check in our hotel and “freshen up a little”, we will ride to a local restaurant for dinner.
Day 2 – Saturday will be a great day of riding through Door County. Since Door County is a Peninsula we will follow the perimeter roads around the Door County Peninsula. The real dilemma for the day is deciding where to stop and where to have lunch. We will definitely stop and look at the goats on Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant. We will either eat at Al’s or my favorite restaurant near Gill’s Rock. This will not be a long riding day in terms of miles but it will definitely be a full day of riding and sight seeing.
Day 3 – Sunday will start like the prior two days with breakfast, a ride briefing and “kick stands up” at 9:00 AM. We will head south along Lake Michigan. Since there are not roads that follow Lake Michigan all the way south we will head west and avoid the Urban sprawl of Milwaukee and Chicago the best we can. It will be another great day of riding on Wisconsin’s lettered roads through the glacial hills and past many lakes of SE Wisconsin.
We will break for lunch and continue south into Illinois. We will reach the Western Chicago Suburbs before dinner where the tour will end. Dinner on Sunday is not included with the tour. Several weeks after the tour all riders will receive a CD with all the photos from the trip and slide show of the highlights of the trip. As with all our tours our group sizes a limited so book early to reserve you place on the tour.
